FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD DATA

FLASH POINT: 77°F Setaflash FLAMMABLE LIMITS: Not Applicable

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: CO2, Dry Chemical, Foam, Alcohol Foam.

SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: A positive pressure NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn when fighting fires involving chemicals. Cool all fire exposed containers with water.

UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Flammable liquid. If fire occurs, solvents may produce excessive pressure in containers. Vapors are heavier than air.

REACTIVITY DATA

STABILITY: Stable.

INCOMPATIBILITY: Strong oxidizers

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: May form CO2, CO, and various hydrocarbons.

HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Avoid excessive heat or open flames as well as all sources of ignition such as sparks, heaters, static discharges, etc.

HEALTH HAZARD DATA

KNOWN HAZARDS: Irritation. Central nervous system (CNS) depressant. Chronic inhalation of solvent vapors and/or abuse can cause loss of consciousness, memory loss and target organ effects.

CARCINOGENICITY: No ingredients are classified by IARC, NTP, or OSHA as known or potential carcinogens.

PRIMARY ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: Dermal. Inhalation.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: Inhalation: Inhalation of high concentrations of solvent vapors (e.g. in an enclosed area) can lead to nausea, dizziness, headaches, or loss of consciousness. Contact: Can cause severe eye irritation. Solvents remove skin oils; repeated and/or prolonged contact can lead to irritation and possibly dermatitis.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Respiratory conditions or other allergic responses.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES

EYES: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 5 minutes. Consult a physician.

SKIN: Contact will normally cause no more than irritation but wash affected area with soap and water. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.

INHALATION: Move victim to fresh air area and administer oxygen if necessary.

INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting. Keep person warm and consult a physician immediately. Give 1-2 cups of milk or water to drink. Never attempt to give a liquid to an unconscious person.

OTHER: Referral to a physician is recommended if there is any question about the seriousness of the injury/ exposure.

CONTROL MEASURES AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

VENTILATION: General (i.e. natural or mechanically induced fresh air movements that maintain vapor concentrations below recommended exposure limits).

EYE PROTECTION: Safety glasses with side shields recommended.

SKIN PROTECTION: Neoprene or rubber gloves recommended.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: None normally required. Where ventilation is inadequate to control vapors below recommended exposure levels, use a NIOSH-approved respirator with organic vapor cartridges. Never enter a confined space without an appropriate air supplied respirator (e.g. SCBA or air line with escape pack).

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE

HANDLING AND STORING PRECAUTIONS: Store in a cool dry place. Keep material away from all sources of ignition. Keep containers closed when not in use. Wash with soap and water before eating, drinking, smoking or using toilet facilities. For industrial use only. Keep out of reach of children.

SPILL PROCEDURES: Follow control measures described above. Remove all sources of ignition. Remove with an absorbent such as clay and place in disposal containers. Wash area with water to remove residue.
